Thumbelina

Thumbelina-2

Thumbelina

Thumbelina was a sweet, happy little girl who came to us in 2001. More than anything else, she just wanted to be where her family was. She went everywhere with us that she could go, and her gentle, loving disposition always made her welcome. Walks in the parks, meeting new friends, going anywhere in the car, or just hanging out with family were among her favorite things to do. She loved spending time at her Aunt Donna’s farm where she could run free in the large fenced pastures (and where the food was also way better). Dressing her for holidays, birthdays and other special occasions added to the fun, and she willingly went along with it and celebrated with everyone else.

After being part of our lives for 13 years, she died on August 22, 2014, just two weeks after her problems were discovered. She was always an active and joyful part of our family, even on her final day. There will be other dogs in our future, but we will never replace our Thumbelina.

Misty

Misty

Misty – 2

Misty was an Australian cattle dog who came to her family’s horse farm as a small puppy, frightened by a dog half her size. ‘Blue Heelers’ are working farm dogs, and she very quickly went to work on her farm. She loved roaming the pastures and fields, and helping with the horses, doing anything, as long as she was with her people. One of her favorite things to do was ride shotgun on the golf cart while checking fences, spraying weeds, moving hay, or whatever the task for the day was. True to her breed, she was reluctant to let new people into her life but was extremely loyal and loving to those she had chosen. Also typical of her breed, she was very strong-willed and could be difficult to persuade to change her mind. Misty was always happy and content in the car. She gladly waited for her family during church services, hair appointments, shopping trips, picking up horses or going anywhere else that she could, because she knew her people would be back soon. She traveled many hours and great distances without getting restless in the car, only needing to stretch her legs occasionally. Walking trails at Madigan Park, and looking for deer was fun for Misty while visiting her family in Lincoln. In the fall of 2013, she developed cancer in her front paw and had to have her leg removed. That did not, however, deter her from her work around the farm with the horses, and did not keep her off the golf cart. It just slowed her down a bit. Misty died on December 17, 2014, at 12 years old. She remains on the farm she loved, close to the people she loved most.

Buddy

Buddy

Our dog Buddy, found us in September 2001, he came out of a corn field, would not come to me for two weeks, left for three days, came back injured. I thought, you will make friends now. Vet visit, $400.00 later and he was our dog, along with our dog Bear, five cats.

We had a wonderful life together, I miss him so very much. He loved to take long walks, we did that every day, twice! When I was home, he was with me. He did so much for me. I found him just when I really needed him. Love Buddy, see you someday.

Run and play with Xander and daddy in heaven sweet baby girl. You will always be loved and missed!!
